Drawing inspiration from artists like Duke Ellington, Thelonious Monk, and Sergei Prokofiev, Julia Perminova transcends boundaries and genres. Her music, according o fellow pianist Aaron Parks, is “”imaginative, colorful, and poetic,”” echoing the rich traditions of her influences. Beyond her native land, Julia Perminova has onquered European stages, claiming victory in prestigious jazz competitions and gracing performances alongside stars like NDR Big Band, Miguel Zenon, Lionel Loueke and many others.
The Julia Perminova Trio, a dynamic ensemble that blends modern jazz, classical, and fusion, was born five years ago in Amsterdam during their studies at the conservatory. The trio consists of three unique individuals – Julia Perminova on piano, hailing from Russia and living in France, the drummer Luis Possolo from Portugal, and the bassist Josef Zeimetz representing Germany. Each member brings their cultural heritage to the mix, creating a harmonious fusion that forms a new universe of sound.
The trio’s success has reverberated across the globe, with notable performances at festivals in Croatia and Uruguay, as well as on famous stages in Brazil, France, and Switzerland.
